Rentwize is operated by Rentwize Technologies Limited ("Rentwize", "we", "us" or "our"). We run the Rentwize mobile app and this website, where you can rent and list properties, pay rent and bills from a wallet, and book verified service professionals.
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. That means we decide what data we collect and how it is used, and we are responsible for protecting it.
02Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created when you use Rentwize, and a small amount of technical information from your device. Here is the breakdown.
Information you give us
- Account details such as your name, email address, phone number, and password.
- Identity details for verification (KYC), which can include a government ID, a selfie, your date of birth, and your address. This applies when you act as a landlord, agent, or professional, and in some cases when you transact as a tenant.
- Listing and profile content you choose to publish, such as property photos, descriptions, pricing, and the services you offer.
- Messages you send to our support team or to other users through the app.
Information created when you use Rentwize
- Wallet and transaction records, including funding, rent payments, bill payments, withdrawals, and the amounts, dates, and counterparties involved.
- Bookings, enquiries, reviews, and your activity across listings and services.
- Your in-app preferences and settings.
Information from your device
- Device and app information such as device model, operating system, app version, and a device identifier.
- Approximate location, used to show listings and services near you. You can turn precise location off in your device settings.
- Cookies and similar technologies on this website. See the section on cookies below.
03How we use your information
We use your information to run Rentwize and keep it safe. In practice that means we use it to:
- Create and manage your account and profile.
- Process wallet funding, rent and bill payments, and withdrawals.
- Verify identities and review listings so people can transact with more confidence.
- Match you with properties, services, and people relevant to you.
- Send you receipts, security alerts, and updates about your transactions.
- Respond to your questions and resolve disputes.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and activity that breaks our terms.
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We send marketing messages only where you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time without losing access to the core service.
04Our legal bases
Under applicable data protection law, we must have a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract, when we process data to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legal obligation, when a law or regulator requires us to keep or share certain records, such as for identity verification or financial reporting.
- Legitimate interest, when we work to keep the platform secure and prevent fraud, balanced against your rights.
- Consent, for things like marketing messages and precise location, which you can withdraw at any time.
05Payments and your wallet
When you fund your wallet, we issue you a dedicated virtual account and process payments through licensed payment partners that are regulated by the relevant financial authorities. These partners receive the transaction information they need to move money and meet their own legal duties.
Your transaction PIN protects payments from your wallet. We never store your PIN in a form we can read, and our team will never ask you for it. Treat anyone who does as a scammer and report them to us.
06Identity verification and listing review
Before a landlord, agent, or professional can transact, they complete an identity check. We use trusted verification providers to confirm that an ID is genuine and belongs to the person presenting it. Listings are reviewed before they go live.
We keep verification results so we do not have to ask you for the same documents again, and so we can investigate fraud if it happens.
09How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. After you close your account, we keep some records for a limited period where the law requires it, mainly financial and identity records tied to transactions, or where we need them to resolve a dispute. When a record is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it.
10How we protect your data
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and regular reviews of who can see what. Payments are PIN-protected and processed through bank-grade infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, so we also ask you to use a strong password, keep your PIN private, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
11Your rights
Under applicable data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is wrong or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your data, subject to records we must keep by law.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent you gave earlier, such as for marketing.
- Receive your data in a portable format where that applies.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email us at privacy@getrentwize.com. We will respond within the time the law allows, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first so we do not hand your data to the wrong person.
12Children
Rentwize is for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has signed up, tell us and we will remove the account.
13Where your data is processed
Some of the providers we work with store or process data in other countries. When that happens, we take the steps the law requires to make sure your data stays protected to the same standard, including contracts that bind those providers to handle it safely.
14Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our service or the law changes. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top and, where it matters, tell you in the app or by email. Carrying on using Rentwize after a change means you accept the updated policy.
